Pep Guardiola successfully guided Manchester City to a seventh Premier League title, but they face stiff competition this season
A new season is almost upon us, meaning fans across the nation are scrabbling to get the latest info on their teams, as well as devouring league previews and predictions. The 2021-22 Premier League season will begin on Saturday, August 14 after a summer filled with international football action, with attention now turned to who will be named English champions.
it would be Manchester City who are favourite at the beginning of the season. They have the manager who has been there for few years. The team is settled. The relationships are in place. The core of team is constant. They know how the other teammates are going to play. They have won it many times in the past. They know what it taken to handle the pressure and win key games.
Premier league is more about consistency over the year, City are the best team in produce results on regular basis.I think they will win it in a similar way to how they won it in the 2018/19 season. They will be pushed all the way, but will ultimately just do enough.
I think we could see a 4 way battle for the title this season. Manchester United have strengthened significantly with the signings of young prodigy Jaydon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and the veteran Rafael Varane from Real Madrid. Chelsea, on paper the most likely challengers to City, will be heavily boosted by the return of Romelu Lukaku to go alongside their range of attacking options such as Ziyich, Werner, Havertz and Mount, while Liverpool will be galvanised by the return from injury of Virgil Van Dijk and remain a lethal force up front with Salah, Mane, Jota and Firminio. City, however, remain the strongest side on paper. They won by a country mile last season. They have a world class squad and with the signing of Jack Grealish, and the increasingly likely addition of Harry Kane, they will remain the team to beat and Spurs won't have it all together under Nuno Espirito Santo to push the teams ahead in the table. Arsenal? Let's not be silly. West Ham, one of last season's darlings, hasn't done enough to stay up there with the big boys. Aston Villa, on the other hand, could be a handful given its additions to offset Grealish's departure.
Leicester City: Truly amazing side, pretty much the biggest surprise every year (I’m a Leicester fan lol). Daka and Soumare are great signings, and with Castange, Justin and Thomas coming back , they might be on a roll. But, a season without Fofana puts us just outside UCL, I think they will finish either 5th or 6th at the end of the season.
Aston Villa: Signing Leon Bailey, Tuanzebe, Young, Buendia, Ings on top of some seriously talented in-form players like Targett, Cash and Mings, Villa are my dark horses if Dean Smith can continue doing. Saying that But they just sold their best player, It will take some time to work, I think they will have wonderful season.
the newly promoted trio of Norwich City, Watford and Brentford will be in the middle of the relegation fight for the majority of the campaign with Burnley, Crystal Palace and Brighton all struggling after good runs in the top flight. Ultimately, Watford, Burnley and Brighton and Hove Albion will go down after not having enough firepower to get those late-season points when it matters most.
PREDICTION TABLE:
It's unlikely that this is exactly how the table will look come May 22, as lots of variables are always in play with teams getting better, worse and at times, neither. Now's the time to dream:
1. Manchester City
2. Chelsea
3. Liverpool
4. Manchester United
5. Leicester City
6. Tottenham Hotspur
7. Aston Villa
8. Arsenal
9. Leeds
10. West Ham United
11. Everton
12. Wolverhampton Wanderers
13. Newcastle United
14. Southampton
15. Norwich City
16. Crystal Palace
17. Brentford
18. Burnley
19. Brighton & Hove Albion
20. Watford
AWARDS PREDICTION:
GOLDEN BOOT:
Lukaku will step back into the Premier League waters coming off his best season. He lit up Serie A in 2020-21, scoring 24 goals and adding 10 assists for champions Inter Milan. With the creative options around him, Lukaku will become the focal point in Tuchel's attack and will clean up the mess in and around the area while feeding off the great service from the rest of the squad. Anything fewer than 20 goals would be a disappointment.
GOLDEN GLOVE:
The 27-year-old Brazilian has taken home the award the last two seasons and was runner-up the two seasons prior. Needless to say, he's registering lots of clean sheets, as he's more often than not had little to do in the City goal. It's not much of a reach to say he'll collect the three-peat.
PLAYER OF THE SEASON:
De Bruyne scored 10 goals in all competitions and had 18 assists as City also won the League Cup and reached the Champions League final, which they lost to Chelsea. I think he will have even better season than last year, he's the main man of the City. At the end of season, de Bruyne will stand little higher than likes of Bruno Fernandez or salah or lukaku.
MANAGER OF THE SEASON:
It seems a bit silly to give this award to a manager with a team as stacked as Pep's, but that's the way it has gone for three of the last four seasons, all title wins for City. If the Sky Blues run away with it again this season, in the most competitive top-flight league in the world, you had better believe that Pep will make it a fourth Manager of the Season award.
YOUNG PLAYER OF THE SEASON:
One of the Gunners' bright young stars, Saka burst onto the scene in 2020-21, proving himself a vital part of Mikel Arteta's squad and then Gareth Southgate's England squad at UEFA Euro 2020. The 19-year-old is only getting started, however, and his five EPL goals and four assists in 32 matches last year shouldn't be scoffed at.
SINGING OF THE SEASON:
Jadon Sancho, Manchester United
Sancho, 21, scored 50 goals and registered 64 assists in four seasons with Borussia Dortmund. The England International was part of the squad that reached the final of Euro 2020. Something is telling me that Sancho will rip it up in the Premier League. Maybe it's a hunch...or maybe it's his explosive pace, fantastic vision and amazing talent on the ball, all on a team filled with stars. Either or, really.
So there you have it. The preview of the rapidly approaching English Premier League season you needed. Everything you could ever want from a top-flight football season is coming your way, beginning Friday. Thirty-eight matches for each of the 20 teams, from August to May. It's going to be a fun ride.
