LaLiga Season Preview 2021/22

Overview




The La Liga 2021-22 season will be the 91st season of La Liga and will be kicked off on 13 August 2021 with the game between Valencia and Getafe at Estadio Mestalla.

Atlético Madrid will play as defending champions while RCD Espanyol, Real Mallorca and Rayo Vallecano have joined as the promoted clubs from the 2020-21 Segunda Division.

The presence of fans might boost the confidence of the players as LaLiga allowed a certain number of spectators to watch the match since the COVID-19 pandemic.


Let's look at the teams


Atletico Madrid

They will start the season as favourites. With the new signing of Rodrigo De Paul, they stabilized their midfield who'll accompany Koke, Marcos Llorente, Thomas Lemar, Saul and Yannick Carrasco.

In upfront, Luis Suarez leading the line with Jao Felix are also there to blaze.

Shot stopper and MVP of the last season, Jan Oblak will be keen to rescue as well.

The defending champion tag will provide them an extra morale boost.

The main question will be: Can Roji Blancos be able to retain their Spanish Championship Crown? Well, they will have to learn a thing or two from their regrettable preseason campaign and also, we will have to wait to see their sharpening tactics.


Real Madrid

After their city rival, they'll be second favourite to win LaLiga.

Losing their key defender duo Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane, the whole defensive artwork will be on the shoulders of Eder Militao and Nacho Fernandez.

Newly appointed Italian manager, Carlo Ancelotti will be keen to test the front liners like Benzema, Bale, Asensio and Rodrygo. The stable midfield trio of Kroos-Modric-Casemiro are carrying all the hopes for the team.They'll face Alaves in their opener.


FC Barcelona

After the catastrophic loss of the clubs greatest player, Leo Messi due to financial debacle. They'll be rebuilding themselves with the newly appointed players viz. Sergio Aguero, Memphis Depay, Eric Garcia.

The club has shined in their preseason Cup against Juventus after the loss against Salzburg.

They'll be opening their fixtures against Real Sociedad on Sunday.


Other teams to lookout:

Champions League qualified team Sevilla, Europa League qualified teams Real Sociedad and Real Betis and Europa League Champions Villarreal.

Newly promoted teams RCD Espanyol, Real Mallorca and Rayo Vallecano will also fight to make their stay in the league for the next season.

Marcos Llorente

He has provided 11 assists in the last season and scored 12 Goals for Atletico Madrid. One of the key player for the team's success in the last season. There's no doubt that former Madridista is preparing for another impactful season for Roji Blancos.

Jan Oblak


The MVP of last season and the shot stopper of Atletico Madrid kept total of 18 clean sheets in the last season and make saves of around 3 in every matches. Atletico's success still lies in the hands of their Slovenian keeper.


Toni Kroos



The German Sniper is a key player for Real Madrid in the midfield providing the most successful passes (94%) in the last season with 2+ key passes in every match. He has provided 10 assists in the last season along with 3 Goals.


Memphis Depay


The Dutchman will maneuver the Barcelona forward line along with Antione Griezmann and Sergio Aguero. After a stellar season with Olympique Lyonnais scoring 20 goals and providing 12 assists in 37 appearances, he scored 3 goals and provided an assist in the recent Club friendlies after a decent Euro Performance having 2 goals and an assist. He'll be starving to make an impact and fulfill the void of Leo Messi.

Pedri


After a successful Olympic campaign and Euro Cup, the Barca young talent is ready for another successful season. He completed 91% accurate passes per game in Euro Cup, featuring one time in Euro team of the week and dominating in both Olympic and LaLiga, he is currently in front runner of receiving Golden Boy Award and won't be looking back.
